Born 8-9-10 on a farm near the 101 Ranch and Ponca City, Oklahoma. Attended grade school at the Birdsnest Rural School. Helen lived with her grandmother, Louise Back, during her 7th grade and went to school. The family moved to Tonkawa in 1923 and she finished her schooling there. Graduated from high school in 1928 and went to work for Southwestern Bell the same year. Received her Associate Degree from Tonkawa Junior College in 1931 and attended Central Oklahoma Teachers College in Edmond, Oklahoma. Passed her Real Estate examination to sell Real Estate in Kansas in 1959 and was active in this field until they retired and moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 1970.3
HNS died from complications of a stroke casued by high blood pressure. |
